What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is a new injectable option to help dissolve fat around the chin area.  Kybella® has been FDA approved, offering patients a non-surgical way to eliminate their unwanted submental fat or double chin.  Upwards of 80% of people with double chins are concerned about their condition.  This treatment will improve this condition and reinforce a patient's self-confidence.

How does Kybella® work for double chin treatment?
Kybella® is identical to the body's naturally occurring deoxycholic acid, which, when injected, helps destroy fat cells in the chin area.  This treatment can be administered to patients over 18 years of age with moderate to severe submental fat.

What can you expect from the procedure?
A consultation with us at MAE Plastic Surgery is needed to determine what treatment plan is best for your submental area.  During treatment, you can expect 2-3 visits for this procedure, with a series of 12-20 injections per visit.  Each visit is spaced a month apart and takes about 15 minutes.  Some patients may benefit from up to 6 visits.

The Results of Kybella® Double Chin Treatment
After the treatment, patients may experience some side effects such as bruising, pain, swelling, numbness, and firmness around the injection site.  These side effects resolve within 72 hours after treatment.  The results from Kybella® may last for several years.
